Grits is a highly nutritious food with high amount of carbohydrates. It also contains proteins, it is rich in essential minerals and vitamins, as well as dietary fibers, while on the other hand it has very little fat. All this makes it an ideal “fuel” for human body. It is rich in vitamins from group B, contains a high level of folic acid and thiamine, niacin, pantoic acid, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, manganese, zinc and copper. It’s also a rich source of selenium. It is the ideal food for babies when moving to solid food.
SMALL GRITS CAKES
-6 spoons of grits
-400 ml of water
-4 spoons of honey
-pinch of salt
-1 tea spoon of butter for mold lubrication
Boil the water with a pinch of salt and then add a grits in a boiling water. Cook it for about 3-5 minutes. Put the grits into molds ( muffin mold ) that you have previously lubricated with a butter. Leave the molds for about 20 minutes in the fridge to tighten the mixture. After that roll them over little plates and put the honey on top of them.
